Cross of Life Policies for Baptisms, Communion, Weddings, and Funerals

Here are our policies regarding baptisms, communion, weddings, and funerals. Please contact the church at (262) 785-9420 if you have additional questions.

Baptism: We baptize people of all ages! Parents do not need to be members; sponsors do not need to be Lutheran, but should be Christian. We baptize within the context of worship.

Communion: Our table is open to all people! Non-communing children receive a blessing. Communion is celebrated at all Saturday and Sunday services. Instruction for First Communion is currently at the end of 3rd grade (just prior to the age at which kids will consistently be in worship). Please see the First Communion section under the Education heading on this website to see when the next First Communion classes are scheduled.

Weddings: We currently schedule weddings only for members. A wedding booklet, which provides guidance through the process, is available. You can stop at church and get one, call and request one be mailed to you, or find it elsewhere on this website. Weddings must be scheduled at least four months in advance. Three to four premarital sessions with the pastor doing the service are a required part of the process. Based on the pastor's discretion, they will conduct member wedding services off-site. Saturday weddings must start no later than 2:30 pm.

Funerals: Based on pastoral discretion, we typically honor any request for a funeral at the church, from members or non-members. Member funerals take priority over any other church event with the exception of regular worship services and all-building events like VBS and Adventfest.

Wedding Booklet
Here is our guide to weddings at Cross of Life.  Please consult the updated booklet for important information about weddings at Cross of Life - most of your wedding questions (like choosing dates, music, rehearsals, etc.) will be answered by looking through the booklet. The Cross of Life Wedding booklet was revised in 2005.
