2nd Sundays @ 6

Second Sundays at Six

+Contemplative and engaging.

+Themes and styles that are geared to our adult members and visitors.

+Different from our other services and yet deeply connected to our worship traditions.

+Music so beautiful you’ll just want to listen and so simple you’ll hum it for the rest of the week.

Our doors are open for a different type of worship -once a month, on the Second Sunday at 6 PM.  The services are designed for anyone seeking a quieter, thought-full time for worship that includes communion, a brief message, and music that invites your mind to reflect and your heart to be involved.

To begin with, we will depart from normal practice and not offer a nursery during this service. Also departing from normal practice, we will offer rides to anyone who wants to attend but prefers not to drive after dark. There is no target age for this service, but rather an invitation to everyone who wants to be a part of something that is quiet and  spiritually engaging.

On a rotating basis, the services will cycle through evening styles of worship, some of which you will recognize, and others of which will be new, and we trust a welcome addition to what you should expect from your worship life. We have six months of Second Sundays at Six  all planned out and we urge you to be a part of it!

The service can be your time of worship for that weekend, or in addition to our regular Saturday evening and Sunday morning services.  And yes, if you took communion, earlier in the weekend, you can take it Sunday evening too!  You can never come to the table too often. Take time to work on matters of faith and spirit with us, with Second Sundays at Six.

The next Second Sunday @ 6 will be held March 14th.

In March we will explore the Holden Evening Prayer service, which we used in October and use at all our Wednesday evening Lenten services.

We Need Cookie Makers!

The new Synod bishop, Rev. Jeff Barrow, will be installed on March 14 at Holy Cross LC, in Menomonee Falls. Our help making Cookies has been requested for the reception following the installation.  Cookies need to be delivered to Cross of Life by noon Friday, March 12.  If you bring them early, just label them, stick them in one of the freezers, and let Susie Hilgart know where you left them.  If you would like to attend this event it begins at 2:30 p.m. with a variety of special music; the installation begins at 3:00 p.m.

Home for the Moment

Home for the Moment?

If you are currently “home for the moment” because you’re less employed than you’d like to be, join us here at church.  We network and share information on a variety of topics (COBRA updates, mortgage re-working, the ins and outs of unemployment filings, etc.)

All are welcome - join us yourself, and invite anyone to join us who might be “home for the moment.”

The next Home for the Moment group gathering will be Friday March 5th at noon, here at COL.

Hiring?

Several of the people in our Home for the Moment group have shared their resumes with the pastors.

We have posted one paragraph summaries (without names) of their job objectives on our website.

If one of these is of interest to you, contact the pastors and we will connect you to the individual.

Servanthood Opportunities

The 9:30 6th Grade Sunday School classes are collecting hygiene items to bring to Cross Lutheran Church.
We are collecting items like shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant. For years, Cross has put together hygiene bags for the people they serve on Wednesdays through their Bread of Healing ministry.  This ministry evolves around a noon meal together and branches into classes, bible studies and a food pantry that supplies a hygiene packet for their clients.  We would like to collect travel size (or larger) hygiene items.  Please bring the donated items to room #205.  Thank you.

Afterwards, we will meet at Buca di Beppo at 7:30pm for those interested in dining together.  It wouldn't be Couples Fellowship without food!

Please RSVP to LisaToy at 262-649-3344 by March 13th for the Dead Sea Scrolls and/or dinner at Buca's.  All COL couples are invited to join us for both or either one of these fun activities.
