Adult Education

Cross of Life offers many opportunities for Adult Learning!

On Sunday Mornings we invite you to attend:

  • Sunday Morning Adult Forums:
Learning about our latest trip to El Salvador

From 9:30-10:30, in room #202, you’ll find the coffee on and setting ready to enhance a relaxed, conversational environment.  Each week members of our congregation or the community lead adults through a  current issue topic. Please contact Susie Hilgart (785-9420) if you would like to get on the calendar.

  • Sunday Morning Bible Study:

From 9:30-10:30,  you’ll find the coffee on and a pastor-led Bible study.  Each month will bring a new topic.  Currently, we're in the north Fellowship hall classroom, doing a "Introduction to Reading the Bible" study.  The setting is relaxed and conversation is abundant.

Throughout the year,  we invite you to attend:

  • In-Depth Bible Studies:
In the spring and fall, we offer Bible Studies, both during the day and evening, that take us deeper into the Word. T
  • Wednesday Evening Adult Education & Sunday Evening Speakers/Events:

Periodically throughout the programming year Wednesday nights have been an excellent venue to run educational “series” for adults.  These learning opportunities happen on Wednesday evenings, from 6:15-7:30.

  • At least twice a year, fall & spring, Cross of Life hosts an all congregation event.  An inspirational speaker(s) presents on topics that affect our church locally and/or nationally.

Here's what is coming up ....

  • Sunday Mornings Starting in late February ~ Hidden in the Caves
With the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit going on at the Milwaukee Public Museum, now is the perfect time to study about the scrolls, the people who wrote them, and their significance for reading the Bible today. At the end of the class, we’ll take a field trip to the Museum to see the scrolls!

  • Lenten Gathering ~ A Clearing Season-Reflections for Lent
Are you tired of viewing Lent as a burdensome, penitential season of fasting from something you enjoy for reasons you’re not completely sure of and failing to make it through the entire 40 days? Come join us as we explore A Clearing Season – reflections for Lent.  This study will bring us together to reflect, share and encourage one another along our Lenten journeys.  The study will be in room #202, from 1-2:30 pm, and run February 17th (Ash Wednesday) through March 24th. Books are available for purchase in Susie’s office.  The cost of the book is $13.  Please read chapter 1 for Ash Wednesday. Come to as many gatherings as you are able! Any questions, feel free to contact Vicki Downes at 797-8723.

    “Soup and a Study”
Beginning Wednesday event, February 24 through Wednesday March 24, from 5:30-7:00 we will gather for “The Seven Last Phrases of Jesus”. How do each of the Gospel writers interpret the meaning of the cross, why did these phrases appear in some Gospels (and not all), and how can we apply what we glean our lives today?  So…be at COL at 5:30 p.m., grab a bowl of soup and meet in room #201 upstairs.

    • Hidden in the Parables
Beginning Tuesday morning, February 16, from 9:15 - 10:30 a.m., join us as we take a deeper look at the parables to discover what Jesus was saying through them and as we explore their meaning for us today.
